I am an avid weightlifter my goal weight is always 200 pounds. I've been on my bulking fase. I'd have gainied to 240 since new years. And currently weight 220. Still looking to go back to 200. Does a 40 pound bulking fase sound reasonable?or should a bulking fase be less? And does a 20 pound cut in two months sound reasonable? Any advice would be greatly appreacated.
You shouldn't bulk in terms to weight gains, you should bulk in terms to your body fat.
if you gained 40 lbs and your body fat went only up maybe 3-4%, i'd say that was a pretty successfull bulk.
If you gained 40l lbs and your BF went up 10+ then thats no good.
So it all depends on the person, if you think you haven't put on that much fat, then keep bulking, cut only when your not comfortable with the fat anymore
20 months in 2 months sounds like a bit too much, sounds like you could lose some muscle trying to lose that fast.
Of course, the first week of your cut you'll probably lose 5 lbs due to water weight and crap.
