Decking The Halls At Christmas Time
The air is colder; the trees are losing their leaves. Old guy winter gears up to change our surroundings from autumn oranges to winter white and people replace their own yard furniture with plastic material snowmen. It is time to decorate for the holidays also to begin baking cupcakes for Christmas.
I wait all year to get down my Christmas and Thanksgiving decorations from the attic. Many people don’t embellish due to the long procedure for hanging the decorations but, I enjoy this time expended and also the anticipation in the last completed masterpiece.
If you are anything like me, you’ve spent all year absorbing ideas and helpful hints about decorating. A couple of points I’ve learned in the process are to allow your creativity dominate; in this season excess is awarded and the less is more rule is outdated. Whether this is your first year designing or you have been decorating for years, listed below are handful of tips.
First, determine if you want a common theme. Of course, the christmas itself is a theme but there are subthemes such as snowmen, specific shade combinations, traditional or perhaps modern. Try to choose ahead of time what you want your theme to be, it’s not crime to decide a year ahead of time, and then you can purchase decorations after the holiday seasons when they are on discount sales! Stock up on plenty of lighting, lights can be used anywhere and everywhere. You'll never be left feeling like you bought way too many lights.
There is however, a skill to buying lights. Lights come in endless shapes, styles and colors. Everyone has some other viewpoint on bright lights but, get it from me; you can never fail with white lights. White lights can easily be used to accent an ordinary decoration as well as to dress up a tawdry one. Starting with white decorations truly puts a focus on whatever other color you choose to integrate into your decorating theme.
Some of the best decorations are usually homemade. Try creating your own tree decorations. One cute example is to come up with a cranberry and popcorn garland for the tree. Or gather your own pinecones and use basic spray glue and sparkles to make simple and fun decorations to your tree. Making stockings is easier than you imagine and styles can be found online.
Employing different accents while designing makes all the difference in your holiday décor. Candles certainly are a popular selection to the simple added touch. A burning candle adds instant heat and cheer to a room. Use a holiday scented one. Several scents can be found this season that smell like pine, freshly baked Christmas cupcakes or cupcake frosting.
Whatever you choose on your concept, don’t be afraid to change it every year. The advantage of holiday décor is that it can be combined and matched up every Christmas to get a completely new look. The more unique your decorating is each year, the more you will look forward to discovering new design tips for the following year!
